Withrow - Susan
is delighted to be directing her first CMW show. She has a lot in common
with the talent you see on stage tonight as she too was a local child
star. At six, she grabbed the microphone at church during her Sunday
school class performance of I Wanna be a Sheep and turned an ordinary
ensemble piece into a searing vocal solo that is still talked about in
the church basement at fellowship time. She almost lost her role as a
Lilliputian in her first musical Gulliver’s Travels in first grade at
Grace Lutheran Middle School due to an ill-timed growth spurt. She was
the talent winner and first runner up for singing America the Beautiful
in the 1993 Miss Southwest Michigan Teen Pageant. And was involved in
every Variety show, play and musical in which Watervliet Public Schools
would cast her. She blames her families’ story-telling (“big fish story”
liars) heritage and Mr. James Keech, her high school drama teacher for
encouraging her. These days, she lives in Fairplain with her Broadway
loving dog, Dolly J. Sparkles, and is the manager of her family’s
business Withrow Excavating and Construction. |
