Actor Expectations

  • COME TO PRACTICE ON TIME AND BE PREPARED

    • Sign in and get your name tag as soon as you arrive.

    • Warm-ups start promptly at 9am.

    • Dress appropriately to dance and be active.

    • Bring your script to every rehearsal.

    • Bring a pencil to every rehearsal.

    • Bring a bottle of water to every rehearsal.

  • BE READY TO WORK!

    • We are a team – the more we work together, the better the show will be.  Help your cast-mates as much as possible but make sure you are taking responsibility for yourself.

    • Use the bathroom before practice starts and during breaks as much as possible.

    • After break times, return to the assigned instructor quickly and quietly to avoid break time spilling over into work time.

  • LISTEN

    • Active listening means that you are not talking to your neighbor and your eyes are on the instructor.  Nodding your head indicates that you have heard and understand.

    • A lot of time is wasted when the instructor has to struggle to get everyone’s attention.  This takes away from the overall quality of the show.

  • SHOWING IMPROVEMENT

    • One of the goals of CMW is to teach you about theatre techniques and help you improve as a performer.  Working hard, following directions, and showing improvement over the course of a show improves your chances of receiving larger roles in the future.

    • When an instructor gives you a note about a song, dance, or scene, it will be helpful for you to write the note down (in pencil) in your script so that you can apply it to the next run-through.

  • BEHAVIOR

    • The instructors will keep a running list of instances of good and bad behavior amongst the group.  We will be keeping track of the following:

      • Absences

      • Lateness

      • Disruptive Talking/Behavior During Rehearsal

      • Not Keeping Up with Memorization Expectations

    • Stars will be rewarded on this sheet for early memorization of scenes, songs, and dances as well as any behavior or teamwork that exceeds expectations and helps make our show better.

  • ABSENCES

    • We realize that everyone has busy lives and multiple obligations but it is very important for the quality of the show that everyone is present at every rehearsal.

    • Let the instructors know, with as much notice possible, if you know that you will be absent for a rehearsal.

    • If an actor misses more than 2 rehearsals, it is at the instructors’ discretion to pull them from the scenes/songs/dances that they missed.
